The Organic Gardens at Roberts Ranch Vineyards

The gardens at Roberts Ranch Vineyards are tucked amongst the Vineyard blocks and up near the cottage and winery. Our vision for these plantings is to bring beauty and variety amongst the monoculture of the vines. Ultimately, we desire to farm with Permaculture Practices at the forefront. To this end we keep bees, cultivate vegetable gardens, olive trees, and fruit trees, as well as lavender fields. Each year, we make an effort to establish more variety on this hillside vineyard property. (Well, as much as the gophers and deer will allow!)

Lower Lavender Field

Our Lower Lavender field was planted in 2016 in the beautiful Lavandula intermedia ’Phenomenal’. A French Hybrid Lavender, it is notable for its outstanding cold hardiness and tolerance to heat and high humidity. The plants grow in a large 3-4’ mound with purple flowers on tall stems. Our harvest comes in consistently in mid June each year!

Red Tail Gardens

The Red Tail gardens can be found at the bottom of the Red Tail Vineyard block. The purpose of these gardens is to be a place where all ages can work together to produce and harvest delicious food that can be eaten fresh from the garden or prepared in our Cottage kitchen as part of a dish. For summer 2023 we hope to feature items at our monthly French Worker’s Lunches - fruits and veg coming directly from the garden!
